England - Peak District to Yorkshire Dales

St Edmund Church is fairly plain inside. It was originally intended as a garrison chapel for soldiers stationed in Peveril Castle. The interesting nave roof from the 1700s, is decorated with dark wood showing the portcullis symbol of the Duchy of Lancaster. The box pews date back to the 1600s.
